Doctor of Ministry
The Doctor of Ministry is the highest professional degree for ministry, forming pastors through practical research in direct support of their ministries and for the wider church. Yet the program is much more: it is a fellowship of committed, reflective colleagues. It invites you into one of the premier library settings in North America. It lives in the spirituality of Kramer Chapel, which provides strength for your pastoral ministry. If you are an experienced pastor who seeks to sharpen your skills in the context of daily pastoral work, and are looking for a program that combines serious theological inquiry with the development of keener pastoral sensitivities and skills, then the Doctor of Ministry Program at Concordia Theological Seminary is for you.
D.Min. students pursue advanced study and renewal in one of three concentrations:
- Pastoral Care and Leadership: Deepen your understanding of spiritual care for your flock and explore biblical ways that your leadership sets the vision for ministry.
- Preaching and Teaching: Meet the weekly challenges you face through in-depth study of preaching, teaching Bible class and confirmation instruction.
- Mission and Culture: Consider contemporary challenges facing the mission of your congregation and develop the understanding and skills to address them.
The program combines instruction by dedicated and proven pastoral theologians, serious research and lively interchange with peers actively engaged in pastoral ministry. The Doctor of Ministry is the premiere advanced education program for pastors, and it rejuvenates your vigor and passion for ministry.
