Jerome Exegetical Seminar
E X E G E T I C A L   T H E O L O G Y

Jerome Exegetical Seminar (JES) is a gathering of faculty, graduate students, and select M. Div. students who meet monthly to foster an atmosphere of exegetical conversation and reflection. JES allows both students and faculty, side by side, to spearhead the exegetical discussion through presentation of the proposed topic, through a prepared response, and through active discussion. In this way JES is an organized but yet more open avenue for a theological conversation which often is not conducive to the classroom setting. It is also the hope that this setting will encourage students, who are about to enter the ministry, to engage topics on a higher exegetical level and thus to be able to offer additional benefits in the future to the synod at large.

All topics that will be discussed at JES will be announced before the actual meeting. Also the meeting time and location will be announced at least one week before the scheduled debate. Since JES meets monthly all students, who are members, will be expected to attend. Any student who wishes to become a member of JES should contact Dr. Gieschen or the current Exegetical G.A.

Recent Topics and Responses

Due to the fact that these presentations are often works in progress it would not be fitting to post them at this time. If the student, pastor, or professor would like a copy of any of the above topics they may request a copy directly from the presenter or the current Graduate Assistant of the Exegetical Department, 260-452-2179.
