Dr. Senkbeil served as a parish pastor in the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod for 32 years before coming to the seminary as an Associate Professor of Pastoral Ministry & Missions. He most recently served as Pastor of Elm Grove Ev. Lutheran Church, Elm Grove, Wis (1987-2002). Dr. Senkbeil also served as the First-Vice President of the South Wisconsin District, LCMS (1994-1997). From 1998-2002 he was a member of the LCMS Commission on Theology and Church Relations.

Dr. Senkbeil received his B.A. from Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1967 He went on to earn a M.Div. in 1978 and S.T.M. in 1986, from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind. In 2001 his contributions to the church at large were recognized by Concordia Seminary, St. Louis., in the bestowing of the degree of Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa. Dr. Senkbeil is also a 1988 recipient of the Servus Ecclesiae Christi Award.

Dr. Senkbeil and his wife, Jane, are the parents of three children, Michael, Katherine and Timothy.
