SYT 120   LUTHERAN CONFESSIONS I
The first of two courses on the Book of Concord. Presentation of the elements of Lutheran theology in the three Ecumenical Creeds, the Augsburg Confession and its explanation in the Apology. Emphasis on the basic teachings and issues which defined the theology of the Lutheran Church in its historic context.

SYT 121   LUTHERAN CONFESSIONS II
Continuation of SYT 120 with the study of Smalcald Articles, the Treatise, the Formula of Concord, and the Small Catechism and Large Catechism of Luther. Emphasis on learning the rich heritage of mature Lutheran theology in its historical context and its application to our contemporary world.

SYT 122   REVELATION AND SCRIPTURE
The first in a six-course sequence in Lutheran dogmatics. Study of definitions of religion and theology, the person and task of the theologian, the origin and properties of Scripture as God’s revelation. Several theories of the origin and character of Scripture will be discussed. The course is intended to lay a foundation for all further systematic theology courses.
