The Lutheran Giants: Luther, Gerhardt, and Bach
June 28, 2022-June 30, 2022
This study will look at the contributions of Martin Luther, Paul Gerhardt, and Johann Sebastian Bach to the musical, hymnological, and theological heritage of the Lutheran Church. As towering pillars of Confessional Lutheranism, what does each man bring to this glorious heritage that so identifies us? And how can we, as pastors and church musicians, still make faithful use of their good gifts in the Lutheran Church of today? To assist us in answering these questions, organist and composer Jacob B. Weber will lead a Luther and Gerhardt Hymn Festival and organist Nancy Peterson will play a Bach organ recital.
Class will begin at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, and end at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30.
