The society honors the Rev. Wilhelm Sihler, one of the founders of the Seminary. Pastor Sihler assisted Pastor Wyneken by holding the first Seminary classes in his home in 1846. Together with his wife, Susanna, they not only taught students but also housed them and collected donations from area Lutherans to support their welfare.

Gifts at the Sihler Society level represent the family of six estimated four-year costs of housing, utilities, and food ($17,945 annually).Gifts can be given to any program or area of interest at Concordia Theological Seminary or to expand any established endowment fund. Your gifts may also create a new endowment fund. Earned income from endowment funds may benefit any Seminary-approved program.
