God’s People Need Faithful Shepherds
Our Lord Himself said that the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Today, perhaps more than ever, we need faithful servants of Christ who have a heart for mission and a passion for the truth. In a world that is slowly dying in its own sin and brokenness, we train faithful men to bring healing by proclaiming life through the Gospel of Christ. We need faithful pastors. Your ministry matters, now and eternally.
This means learning to preach, teach and speak confidently the truth of God’s Word. Desiring to be an overseer in the Church is a noble task, and yet, is never going to be an easy task, never totally going to be a “comfort zone.”
Let us administer our office in the fear and reverence of God, that is, let us bring the doctrine of the Gospel to the hearers in humbleness of spirit, in the fear of God and in prayer. Then let us be proud in God, whose cause it is. And let us remain constantly in this fear and honor of God, and let us allow nothing to tear us from it.
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
