Title:Meet Our New StaffNEW STAFF MEMBERS IN THE LIBRARY PROVIDE "BEHIND-THE-SCENES" SUPPORT FOR LIBRARY USETwo new members of the staff at Walther Library this fall are not readily visible to you as you come into the library. But these two new staff members provide needed service away from the eyes of the public, and we welcome them to the library. Mrs. Bev Soyk is the new Technical Services Assistant at the library. In this position, she assists Patty Braden in cataloging new books before they go to the shelves. The picture of her family on her desk shows that Mrs. Soyk is proud of her husband, Ken, and two daugh-ters, Rachael (13 years old) and Rebecca (8 years old). The family moved to Ft. Wayne from Wichita, KS, this past summer so that Ken could take summer Greek. Before coming to the seminary, Bev enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom; during the past five years, she has home-schooled her two daughters. Before the children were born, she had worked twelve years at a bank, holding positions ranging from being a teller to working in the data processing center. Among her per-sonal interests, Bev admits to being a Denver Broncos fan. She started working on September 1, and says that the library is "a great place to work." Deaconess Natalie Watt is the new Acquisitions Assistant at the library. In this position, she helps order new materials for the library. Dcs. Watt was installed in the opening service on September 10. With the red Cornhusker mug on the shelves in her office, Natalie shows her roots in Nebraska, where she grew up (and where her parents still live). Natalie was consecrated as a deaconess on June 7, 1998, after graduating from Concordia University, River Forest. She has four brothers, one of whom is in his fourth year at Concor-dia Seminary, St. Louis. Natalie has traveled widely (including Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan, and Venezuela). In addition to traveling, she enjoys sewing and discussing theology. About her position at the library, Natalie said, "It's a joy to be able to serve the church by providing materials for future pastors to study." Previous Article | Newsletter Index | Next Article |
