It’s All on the Web, Isn’t It?

The World Wide Web seems to be so much a part of our lives today that many people ask, “It’s all on the Web, isn’t it?” Many people are surprised to learn that the answer to that question is, “No, it’s not all on the Web. In fact, there are many, many things that you cannot find on the Web.”

Especially in the area of theology, many printed books are not yet a part of the Web. It is indeed questionable whether some of these will ever be on the Web. Unlike some areas of study (like science and medicine), theology depends on works produced and printed not only decades ago, but centuries ago. These materials are only available in print. That’s why we spend so much time collecting and making these print materials available in the library.

That having been said, however, you can find more and more material in the area of theology on the World Wide Web. In this issue of News & Notes, we give you a brief look at some of the resources you can find on the World Wide Web, available from the home page of the library. Supplement your use of print materials by learning to use these resources, and you can expand your use of the library.
