Title:Walther Library Unveils New Online CatalogDuring a special convocation at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne in December, Prof. Robert V. Roethemeyer, Director of Library and Information Services, unveiled the online public access catalog of the new Ex Libris Aleph Integrated Library System. Students on and off campus will be able to access this new catalog through the seminary’s website, www.ctsfw.edu. Once there, click on the Library icon, choose Our Catalog, and begin using this new, state-of-the-art tool for research. The search for a new system began three years ago as Prof. Roethemeyer and the other directors of the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI) member libraries started looking for an integrated library system that would provide the next generation of tools for effective faculty and student research. The system is funded in large part by a $2.65 million grant from the Lilly Endowment Inc. received in April of 2001 to support the development of an "Advanced Resource Sharing Network to Support Learning." The catalog is the public face to this new system being implemented in twenty-two libraries statewide. The new system offers users a more extensive reach as they search for books, periodicals, and other resources. Not only will they have access to Walther Library’s complete catalog, they will also be able to link to a number of other academic and public libraries across Indiana. These libraries include Notre Dame University, Indiana University, Purdue University, as well as all the other seminaries in the state. Previous Article | Newsletter Index | Next Article |
