Campus Planning and a New Library

On Tuesday evening, March 9, about a dozen students met with the persons responsible for developing a long-range campus master plan for the seminary as well as plans for a new library. The input from the students will be added to input from the staff and faculty to make a complete picture.

Steve Troost and Neal Kessler of JJR Associates, Ann Arbor, Michigan, are developing a strategic plan for seminary facilities. The plan will cover seminary development for the next several decades. At the same time, Wayne Schmidt and Troy Thompson of Schmidt Associates, Indianapolis, are starting to work on the plans for a new library. The two plans are being done at the same time, since the location of the new library will affect everything else on campus.

The end result of the work being done this spring will be a program for the new library. The program is not yet a design, but includes information about how much space is needed, for what the space is needed, and how the space will be arranged. The Board of Regents will review the library program at its meeting on Friday, May 21.
