When moving to Fort Wayne, the seminary family is concerned about the school possibilities for their children. From pre-school through high school, Fort Wayne has many opportunities.

A majority choose to enroll their children in one of the twelve Lutheran schools in the city of Fort Wayne. The members graciously treat seminarians as if they are members of their congregation, with the yearly tuition beginning as low as $120 per child. Most of the Lutheran schools have full-day kindergarten and three require uniform dress. Many of the schools also have programs for children with special learning needs.

An added plus is the convenience of the Lutheran Association for Elementary Education (LAEE) bus system, with two central locations; from there the children will be transported to the individual schools. In the morning and at 3:45 p.m., the bus comes onto our campus. One young boy gets off the bus, jumps into his parents' car, where his father joins him in a matter of minutes as seminary classes disperse at 3:55 p.m.

Home schooling has gained much popularity in recent years. In the past five years, Indiana enrollment has grown from 2000 to 9000 students. I have a list of the Indiana rules plus a list of Fort Wayne support groups associated with home schooling. Some of our professors also home school their children.

Fort Wayne is also blessed with Concordia Lutheran High School. Just five minutes from the seminary, Concordia is the largest Missouri Synod high school in the United States and is nationally recognized for excellence in education. Concordia offers a full athletic program, music and other extra-curricular activities. It has around 950 students in attendance.

Whether the public school system, parochial, or home schooling, I have found parents very pleased with their selection of schools. Please give me a call if I can provide more information about schools, housing or jobs.
