Christ Academy Inspires the Best!

By Rev. Scott C. Klemsz

Have you ever had someone look at you and suggest you be a doctor, lawyer, or business executive? You know the feeling you get when someone suggests such a lucrative and important profession might be in your future. “Wow, you think, could I do it?” “I wonder what my future will look like?” “Sports car, fancy house, and lots of fun wait in my future!”

This is a common reaction of many high school and college men as they look at their future in a success-oriented world. Your success in life will go from success in the classroom with good grades, prestigious activities, and outstanding sports to a career that will be no less successful, but with even more lucrative rewards.

Christ Academy encourages the best and brightest to think about something else. More importantly the Academy wants you to think about a different path; a joyous path that has a different view of the world, life, and more importantly, vocation.

Nearly nine years ago Concordia Theological Seminary wanted to make a difference in the church and the world. What came out of meetings and conversations would be the forming of an elite summer Academy for some of the brightest young men in The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS). The vision of the seminary has grown into the most unique program of its type in the church and is set to impact the world and future generations with the first Christ Academy–H.S. participant graduating from the seminary and entering the church as a pastor upon receiving his first call this spring.

Christ Academy–H.S. focuses men’s attention on that of lasting value, Christ the one that changes and impacts the lives of a lost and hurting world. By studying the Scriptures, confessions, and history of our church, men begin to understand more clearly the eternal ramifications that our church has in the lives of others.

This vision was expanded as the Christ Academy–H.S. grew to include new areas with Christ Academy–College. Christ Academy– College is a unique place where men from colleges and universities across the country come together for a winter theological retreat. This is yet another unique opportunity where the roots of theological study continue to be fed and grow as men look toward their future.

Christ Academy–Germany is another unique opportunity that has allowed college men to “urban backpack” through historic Germany, not only looking at the sites of Luther, but engaging in a different culture at the ground level. For many men this opens their eyes for the first time to a new world.

Are you ready to do something different with your life; to enter a world were men dedicate their lives to making a difference in the lives of others? Join Christ Academy–H.S. this summer and explore how Christ not only forms your life as a Christian, but also can form your future as you serve Him and His church. If you are in college, you can join us for Christ Academy–College, a unique retreat that will offer you insights into the seminary and unique path that may indeed change the world.

For information concerning both the high school and college events you may go online to www.ctsfw.edu, click on Events, then select Christ Academy–H.S. or College in the left-hand column, or phone 1-800-481-2155. You may also e-mail us at ChristAcademy@ctsfw.edu with questions concerning the high school event or CACollege@ctsfw.edu to ask about the college event. Call us or e-mail us and engage us as you look to your future with new and unique ways of serving Christ who has given all to you.
