Serving Future Servants on Giving Tuesday

Ordination in Kramer Chapel.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (CTSFW)— One week from today, on November 28, Concordia Theological Seminary (CTSFW), Fort Wayne, will participate in the National Day of Giving, which always falls on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Commonly referred to as Giving Tuesday, the one-day event begins the charitable season for many non-profits. This year will mark CTSFW’s second as a participant, this time around the theme “Serving Future Servants.”

While the majority of pastoral and diakonal students at CTSFW already have most of their tuition covered by the many gifts that come to the Seminary through regular donations, there is still the matter of daily bread. Living expenses, physical needs and the secondary demands of Seminary (such as books) all require support, not least of which is the emergency situation. This Giving Tuesday, CTSFW will create a care fund for the unexpected needs of its students. Operating under the Student Adoption Program, which pairs donors and congregations with specific students, this fund will allow the Financial Aid Office to give to those students most in need, when they most need it. Whether their need manifests as a medical problem, car trouble or simply an unexpected bill, these donations will be ready for those times of sudden financial stress.

A generous supporter of CTSFW has offered $60,000 to be disbursed over five years as a matching challenge for new donors and those who have not donated to the Seminary in over a year. Since this gift can be broken down to $12,000 per year (or $1,000 per month), the goal of “Serving Future Servants” is to recruit 100 recurring donors willing to donate $10 each month in order to meet the match. Please consider partnering with CTSFW on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to serve those who will someday serve you.
