PaperCut at CTSFW

CTSFW has implemented a printing solution for students called PaperCut. This solution gives every student an account to which credit can be added, and it allows students to scan their student IDs at library printers in order to retrieve their prints. When students retrieve their prints, the cost is automatically deducted from the balance on their accounts. Prints can be retrieved from multiple printers throughout the library.

Getting Started

  • Add funds to your PaperCut Account

    Funds may be added to your PaperCut account at the Cashier Window in the administration building during normal business hours. Each printed page costs $0.07, so it is recommended that the amount you add to your account be a multiple of seven. (E.g. $7.00, $21.00, or $35.00) Adding funds in multiples of seven will help you avoid having an odd balance left on your account, like $0.04, for example.

  • Associate your Student ID with PaperCut

    The first time you scan your CTSFW student ID at one of the printers, you will need to associate your card with your PaperCut account. To do this, enter your CTSFW email address and the password you use to sign in to your CTSFW email account. This will permanently associate your card with your account, so you only have to do this once. It is recommended that you do this on one of the larger copy machines as the on-screen keyboard is much easier to use than the one on the small printer in the Marquart Study.

Printing from a Library Computer

  • Choose where you would like to retrieve your print

    When printing from a library computer, you have a couple choices on where to pick up your print job.

    • To print to either of the large multi-function copy machines, send your print job to CTS-FollowMe-Client.
    • To print to the small printer in the Marquart Study, send your print job to CTS-FollowMe-Lexmark.
      The four computers in the Marquart Study will print to the printer in the study by default, but you can select the other printers if you wish.
  • Sign in to PaperCut

    When you click Print a library computer, you will be prompted to sign in to your PaperCut account. Use your CTSFW email address and the password you use to log into your CTSFW email account to sign in. Once you have signed in, your print will be held in your PaperCut queue for two hours. Note: If you are not asked to sign in, look for the PaperCut shortcut on the computer desktop and double-click it. This should launch PaperCut again so that you can log in.

Printing from Your Own Device

  • Convert your document to a PDF

    Email to Print only supports PDF format at this time. Before sending a document to print, it must first be converted to PDF format. If you are unsure how to convert your document to PDF, review the instructions for Microsoft Office or Google Docs.

  • Email your PDF to the Printer

    Attach your PDF to an email using your CTSFW email account. Attachments sent from non-CTSFW email accounts cannot be printed. Address the email based on which printer you wish to use to retrieve your print.

    Your print will be held in your PaperCut queue for two hours.

Retrieve Your Print

  • Visit the printer where you would like to retrieve your print within two hours of adding it to your queue. Scan the barcode on your CTSFW Student ID to log in.
    Note: You must press “Start” before scanning your barcode on the Marquart Study printer.

    If you have not yet associated your ID with your account, see the instructions for doing so above. Once you have logged in, you will see a list of prints waiting to be released. Press, “Print All” to retrieve all prints, or select a specific print to retrieve only one. The printer will then start printing and your PaperCut account will be charged.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I still print if I forget my Student ID?

    Yes! You can manually log in by typing in your username and password on the printer. Your username is your CTSFW email address, and the password is the same as your email password. Doing this is tedious, so it’s recommended you don’t forget your ID.
    Tip: You can also save your library barcode to your smart phone and scan that to retrieve your prints.

  • Can I pay in cash?

    The printers are unable to print unless you have credit in your PaperCut account. Be sure to plan ahead, and make sure you have enough credit when you need to print.

  • How can I see my PaperCut balance?

    When you log in to PaperCut on the printer or on a library computer, your current balance is displayed at the top of the screen. Keep an eye on your balance so you know when to add more funds.

  • When is my PaperCut account charged? Can I still send prints if I don’t have any credit on my account?

    PaperCut only charges your account when you release your print from the queue. If you have no credit, you can still send prints to be queued, but you cannot print unless you have enough credit for that print job.

    For example, if you have a balance of $0.14, you could print a two-page letter to your home congregation, but at ten-page paper would not print. Add credit to your account at the Cashier window to be able to retrieve your print.

  • What can PaperCut credit be used for?

    You can use PaperCut credit for black and white printing and photocopies.

  • Can I print in Color?

    For color printing, please visit the print shop across the hall from the mail room.

  • What do I do with my old blue print card?

    If you still have a blue print card, you can exchange it at the Cashier for PaperCut credit or a cash refund.
