Music + Theology + Campus Visits

We have a busy four weeks ahead at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne (CTSFW), and are looking forward to welcoming many visitors to campus. If you love music, theology, and worship or are a prospective student (or know someone who is), take a look at what’s coming in the next four weeks at CTSFW.

Register Now for the Good Shepherd Institute Conference

The 24th annual Good Shepherd Institute Conference will be held November 5–7. The theme of this year’s conference is “The Living Tradition,” with a focus on Martin Luther’s Formula Missae on its 500th anniversary. The schedule includes plenary presentations from Professor Emeritus Bryan Spinks, Dr. James Bushur of CTSFW, and Dr. Paul Grime of CTSFW, as well as a variety of sectionals and seminars.

The conference also includes three special musical events, all of which are free and open to the public. Events held at CTSFW will be livestreamed.

  • November 5: Organ Recital with Kantor Matthew Gerhardt, 4:30 p.m. EST
  • November 5: Choral Vespers with the Seminary Kantorei, 7:30 p.m. EST
  • November 6: Hymn Festival, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, 7:30 p.m. EST

Other October/November Events

Donation Day is next Tuesday, October 10. Donation Day, hosted by the CTSFW Seminary Guild, gives attendees the opportunity to assist future pastors and deaconesses through donations to the Food and Clothing Co-op and mission grants. On October 27–29, college-age students are invited to campus for the annual Christ Academy: College retreat. This FREE event gives students the opportunity to live the life of a CTSFW student, attending worship, taking classes, and immersing themselves in Lutheran community. The annual Luther Hostel, designed for lifelong Lutheran learners, will be held November 1–3. Open to laity and church workers, Luther Hostel focuses on worship, study, and fellowship on campus, with an emphasis on in-depth, confessional exploration of Lutheran theology. The theme this year: “The Christian Spiritual Life: Worship, Scripture, Prayer and the Fruits of Faith.” To register: ctsfw.edu/LH
