Lutheranism & the Classics IX: Authenticity and Deceit
If you have an interest in Lutheranism, the classics, classical education, and the challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence, virtuality, cleverness, and deceit, we encourage you to consider submitting a proposal for the 2027 joint conference of Lutheranism & the Classics and the Consortium for Classical Lutheran Education.
The conference will be held October 1–2, 2027, at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne (CTSFW), under the theme “Authenticity and Deceit.” Conference organizers invite proposals for individual papers or panels with at least three participants. Topics may address the conference theme broadly, including the use of ChatGPT, cunning and virtue, classical and biblical examples of deception, technology, plagiarism and honor codes, artifice in the Reformation, or Luther’s 1527 treatise That These Words of Christ, ‘This is My Body’ Still Stand Firm Against the Fanatics.
Two types of sectional papers will be considered: academic papers for Lutheranism & the Classics and practical presentations for CCLE. Potential presenters should specify whether they are submitting an L&tC proposal or a CCLE proposal. Abstracts of no more than 250 words should be submitted by electronic attachment to Rev. Dr. Cameron MacKenzie at Cameron.MacKenzie@ctsfw.edu by November 1, 2026.
You can find the full Call for Papers at ctsfw.edu/LTC. The call is also viewable using the button below. Please share this opportunity with anyone else who may be interested, and keep the conference dates in mind. Whether you’re a presenter or an attendee, we’d be delighted to welcome you to CTSFW in the fall of 2027.
