Biography

Dr. Quill joined the faculty of Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne (CTSFW), in 1998 and teaches liturgy, homiletics, and missions.

He received a BS in education from Concordia Teachers College, Seward, Nebraska, in 1971, and his MDiv and STM from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 1980 and 1993, respectively. In 1996, he received a master’s in philosophy from Drew University, followed by a PhD in 2002 after completing his dissertation, “An Examination of the Contributions of Theodosius Harnack to the Renewal of the Liturgy in the Ninteenth Century.”

He served as director of the Russian Project at CTSFW. In this position, he traveled extensively to Russia and the former nations of the Soviet Union, oversaw the recruitment of approximately 40 students from Russia to study on the Fort Wayne campus; assisted in the establishment of Lutheran Theological Seminary in Novosibirsk, Siberia; and organized theological seminaries in Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus and Lithuania.

He served as dean of International Studies at CTSFW and also served as director of Theological Education for The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) Office of International Mission.

He served as a parish pastor for 15 years in the LCMS.
