Biography

The Rev. Dr. Robert D. Macina was ordained into the Office of Holy Ministry in the LCMS in 1996. He has served as pastor at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Johnstown, Colorado; Holy Trinity Orthodox Lutheran Church, Denver, Colorado; and in his current parish, Risen Christ Lutheran Church, Arvada, Colorado, since 2018.

After earning a BA in Theology from Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska, in 1991, he attended Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana. He completed the MDiv in New Testament with a minor in systematic theology in 1995, and the STM in exegetical theology in 2009. In 2014, he was awarded a PhD in Old Testament from University of Divinity, Kew, Victoria, Australia. He is the protégé of Australian Lutheran pastor and Biblical scholar, the Rev. Dr. John Kleinig, under whose supervision he completed his doctoral dissertation on ancient Israel’s daily liturgy.

Dr. Macina has written articles for theological journals, guest lectured at seminaries, and is the author of The LORD’s Service: A Ritual Analysis of the Order, Function, and Purpose of the Daily Divine Service in the Pentateuch (Pickwick Publications, 2019).
