If you’ve been thinking about enrolling in a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) program, you have a great opportunity to test the waters this June with a special Continuing Education (CE) course offered by Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne (CTSFW). The five-day course, “Preaching from the Old Testament Prophets,” will be taught by Dr. Reed Lessing on the campus of Concordia University, St. Paul (CSP) June 17–21, 2024.
The course may be taken for either CE or DMin credit. Those who take the course for DMin credit may apply it to their program at CTSFW if they decide to enroll.
“The DMin program provides a setting for pastors to bring their ministry experience into the classroom, reflect on it through deep theological study, and encourage fellow pastors through peer interaction and review,” said Dr. Gifford Grobien, director of the CTSFW DMin program. “A trial course like this one can help them discern how and when this program can best serve them. They can take the course for DMin credit even if they aren’t in the program yet, at the reduced DMin tuition rate.”
The course will equip participants to proclaim the Gospel—confidently and boldly—from the prophetic books of the Old Testament. Dr. Lessing, the Edwin F. and Esther L. Laatsch Chair of Old Testament Studies at CSP and associate pastor at Cross View Lutheran Church in Edina, Minnesota, has authored numerous books on the Old Testament, including five commentaries on books of the prophets in the Concordia Commentary Series (CPH).
