 4. Strategic Plan

In November 2024, the Board of Regents of Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne(
CTSFW), adopted a strategic plan for 2024–2029 to help the Seminary thrive well
into the future. The overarching aim of the plan: to form exemplary pastors and
deaconesses for faithful service in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and its mission
fields.

> _Our overall strategic goal is to provide robust residential education and formation.
> That’s good for the Church. It means pastors deeply steeped in God’s Word and
> our confession for a lifetime of faithful ministry, and deaconesses theologically
> prepared to carry out works of mercy to which the Lord has called the faithful._

CTSFW President Jon S. Bruss

### Breakthrough Objectives

These are the strategic goals for the next five years that will help us achieve
our mission.

 * Engage LCMS congregations and seminary alumni regarding current and future needs
   related to pastors and deaconesses.
 * Identify and recruit exemplary students who will graduate with utter confidence
in God’s Word and our Lutheran Confessions and utter humility in themselves as
sacrificial servants for Christ and His Church.

 * Enhance a culture of robust, ongoing faculty development with a focus on teaching
the primary texts and critical thinking.
 * Identify, encourage, and support future faculty who can ignite a passion for
God’s Word and our Lutheran Confessions in our students so they may be courageous
   in mission and ministry.

 * Instill in our students an even deeper grounding in God’s Word and our Confessions
so that our students leave ready for the challenges the church and her mission
   face today.
 * Prepare our students to lead their congregations in evangelistic outreach and
to plant churches where they are needed.

 * Address aging facilities, build new spaces including new housing for single and
married students and a new Food & Clothing Co-op, and update classroom buildings.
This will enhance CTSFW as an inspirational place to grow in Christ, learn theology,
and apply all that is learned to the ministry and mission of the church.
 * Live out our Lutheran faith in love and service to one another in our vibrant
   Christ-centered Seminary community.

 * Partner with our generous LCMS donors to invest in and fulfill the mission of
   CTSFW.
 * Faithfully steward the resources entrusted to us to maximize their impact throughout
   our organization.
