God’s Two Kingdoms and Three Estates
June 27, 2022-June 29, 2022
Using essays from the new book One Lord, Two Hands: Essays On the Theology of the Two Kingdoms, edited by Matthew Harrison and John T. Pless, this course will explore the implication of the Lutheran teaching of the two kingdoms and the three estates for Christian vocation and confession in a fallen world. In a day where political activism on the part of both conservative and progressive churches threaten to “mix and muddle” (Luther) God’s two-handed way of governing His creation, this course will provide pastors with resources for faithfully distinguishing law and gospel in the public square.
