Event Information
Christ Academy’s tradition is made up of three important elements: confessional catechesis, liturgical worship, and fun life together. Every year CTSFW hosts two retreats for confirmation students, one in the fall and another in the spring. Each confirmation retreat focuses on a different topic. Over the last three years, we’ve looked at one of the six chief parts of Luther’s Small Catechism.
Check-in starts on Friday evening at the Welcome Center between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. where groups pick up their dorm room keys. That same night, pizza will be served in the Student Commons at 7:30 p.m., followed by the first session at 8 p.m. The next day consists of catechetical sessions, a guest speaker and a fun evening event for the students. The retreat concludes on Sunday after church at historic St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in downtown Fort Wayne.
This invitation extends to any of the youth in your congregation who are preparing for first communion or confirmation. We do ask that an appropriate number of chaperones attend to oversee the students. The cost for the entire weekend is $110 per individual (whether catechumen or chaperone), which includes food, housing, classes and fun. Payment can be made by calling the Seminary’s cashier, or by bringing a check to the retreat.

Who is allowed to attend?
This invitation extends to any youth who is preparing for first communion or confirmation.
Where will I stay?
You will stay in dormitory rooms on the Seminary campus, two students per room. Each room has two closets, two chairs, and two beds. Bedding and towels will be provided.
What will I eat?
Students will eat some meals in the campus Dining Hall as well as at some local eateries in Fort Wayne.
Does my group need to bring chaperones?
Yes. We request at least one male chaperone and one female chaperone who will remain with the students for the duration of the retreat.
What will I study?
Each confirmation retreat focuses on one of the six chief parts of Luther’s Small Catechism.
What do I need to bring?
Bring a Bible, a weekend’s worth of clothes including formal wear for church and chapel services (free laundry in the dorms is available), toiletries, any necessary medicine, and some spending money.
What opportunities are available outside the classroom?
Students will have the opportunity to receive the gifts of God at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in downtown Fort Wayne.
What is the cost?
The current cost is $110 per person, for both students and chaperones. However, if your congregation receives a fieldworker from Concordia Theological Seminary, Christ Academy will cover the cost for any chaperones or fieldworkers that attend.
