Dr. Gary Zieroth Accepts Call to CTSFW
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (CTSFW)—The Concordia Theological Seminary (CTSFW), Fort Wayne, faculty is growing with the addition of the Rev. Dr. Gary W. Zieroth. He will serve as assistant professor of Pastoral Ministry and Missions, as well as dean of Students and director of Vicarage.
“This decision didn’t come easy as I will be leaving the parish ministry after 26 years and will greatly miss the daily and weekly shepherding that comes as a pastor relates to his people. I continue to hope and pray that God will use my experiences to help train the next generation of pastors and, in small ways, give a glimpse of the joys and great privilege it is to be called into this Holy Office,” shared Zieroth. “By God’s grace and help, I will do my best to represent the Seminary and the Synod well in whatever tasks He assigns me.”
Zieroth has served as senior pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Chaska, Minnesota, since 2009. He also served congregations in Canada and Maryland. He earned both his M.Div. (1990) and D.Min. (2006) from CTSFW. His B.A. from Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Michigan, was earned with concentrations in counseling and psychology. He has served as an adjunct professor for CTSFW for several years, leading courses regarding what the Bible teaches about marriage, families and catechesis. He and his wife, JoAnn, have four children.
“I am absolutely delighted that Gary will be joining our team! He and his family will be a tremendous addition to our community,” commented CTSFW President Dr. Lawrence R. Rast Jr. “He has spent over 25 years caring for parishioners. That experience, combined with his expertise in counseling, will be a wonderful blessing as he teaches future pastors and deaconesses.”
Zieroth’s service at CTSFW will begin in August. We ask that you keep the entire Zieroth family in your prayers as they make this transition and start another chapter in their journey.
