FORT WAYNE, Ind. (CTSFW)—Scholars, theologians and lay people from all around the world will gather for Symposia Series 2017 at Concordia Theological Seminary (CTSFW), Fort Wayne, January 16–20. The week begins with the Lenten Preaching Workshop on Monday, January 16. Prof. John T. Pless, assistant professor of Pastoral Ministry and Missions at CTSFW, will present under the theme of “Preaching the Penitential Psalms in Lent: ‘Lord, Have Mercy.’” Drawing on Luther’s work on the Psalms, this workshop will seek to equip pastors to preach on the penitential Psalms for the midweek Lenten services.

The theme for the 32nd Annual Symposium on Exegetical Theology, January 17–18, is “The Spirit of Reformation Exegesis Today.” The 40th Annual Symposium on the Lutheran Confessions, January 18–20, will meet under the theme “The 500th Anniversary of the Reformation: Continuing the Celebration.”

•“Luther’s Lectures on Hebrews: The Headwaters of the Reformation”—Dr. Arthur A. Just Jr., chairman and professor of Exegetical Theology, CTSFW.
•“Luther in America”—Dr. Lawrence R. Rast Jr., CTSFW president and professor of Historical Theology.
•“Old, Cold, Lame and One-eyed: Luther’s Last Year”—Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
•“Will the Real Luther Stand Up?”—Dr. David P. Scaer, chairman and professor Systematic Theology, CTSFW.
