​​​​​JOB TITLE: Chief Communications Officer

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt  
DEPARTMENT: Seminary Communications  
SUPERVISED BY: Chief Operating Officer 

POSITION SUMMARY:  

The Chief Communications Officer leads the seminary communication team to effectively tell the seminary story in print, digital and other media to a variety of audiences in a timely and effective manner.
 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  1. Provide information concerning the Seminary’s mission, its educational programs, events and opportunities to the Seminary community, Synod organizations and local media. This includes timely news releases, social media posts and website updates.
  2. Serve as managing editor of the Seminary’s magazine For the Life of the World.
  3. Work closely with the Office of Institutional Advancement to coordinate appeals, alumni cultivation and events as well as other communications both internal and external.
  4. Serve as chief liaison for coordinating Seminary presence at national and district conventions.
  5. Oversee production of Seminary publications, For the Life of the World, Concordia Theological Quarterly, Seminary Facebook page, brochures and other promotional and campaign materials.
  6. Work with Seminary Technology to produce information and images for the website and assist with editing information for accuracy and consistency.
  7. Work with the supervisors and staff of all Seminary departments to assist with publication and public relations, ensuring a common message and theme.
  8. Coordinating information flow between media and the Seminary in arranging interviews concerning the Seminary and current issues.
  9. Supervise and lead Seminary Communication Team
  10. Manage the Seminary Communications budget.
  11. Other tasks as deemed appropriate by the Board of Regents and Seminary President.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Should hold a bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism or related area.
  • At least five years’ experience working in public relations or communications.
  • Should have a working knowledge of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
  • Should possess a strong theological understanding of Lutheran history, doctrine and practice.
  • Possess excellent writing and editing skills and have outstanding language skills.
  • Understand creative concepts and have a good eye for visually appealing design.
  • Possess good management, business and leadership skills.
  • Deal professionally with vendors, media and all contacts from within and without the seminary community.
  • Should possess a positive attitude and be dependable, self-motivated and capable of managing several projects at once.
  • Exceptional candidates will have
    • Experience with Marketing Cloud for email and SMS campaigns.
    • Familiarity with Storybrand-based marketing principles.


JOB TITLE: Digital Communication Specialist

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt 
DEPARTMENT: Seminary Communications 
SUPERVISED BY: Chief Communication Officer

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Digital Communication Specialist works with other members of the Seminary Communications Team to effectively tell the Seminary’s story through a variety of digital media formats and platforms.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Redesign and maintain the CTSFW primary website, including UI/UX design.
  2. Help with design of subsidiary sites (myCTSFW, Admission Portal, ProtectMyMinistry Portal, etc.
  3. Works with Seminary Communications team to help tell the Seminary’s story to diverse audiences.
  4. Prepare digital communications in Marketing Cloud for sending.
  5. Design audience focused journeys in Marketing Cloud to maximize the impact of seminary communication.
  6. Provide analytic data to assist in assessing the Seminary’s communication efforts.
  7. Assist with managing the Seminary’s social media presence as needed.
  8. Helps with content writing and editing as needed.
  9. Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Chief Communications Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 5 years of experience in web development or design
  • Strong HTML5/Javascript/CSS skills
  • Familiarity with WordPress templating or PHP a plus
  • Good written communications skills with an eye for detail.
  • Exceptional candidates will have
    • Experience with Marketing Cloud for email and SMS campaigns.
    • Familiarity with Storybrand based marketing principles.

SKILLS: 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work well with people (team player).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

JOB TITLE: Bookstore Manager

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt 
DEPARTMENT: Bookstore 
SUPERVISED BY: Chief Operating Officer

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Bookstore Manager provides leadership to ensure the delivery of excellent customer service while contributing to a visually attractive, clean, and organized environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Acts as liaison between professors and online textbook companies.
  2. Works with publishers to receive maximum discounts and return credits.
  3. Book and gift buyer.
  4. Displays and merchandises the store for optimal visual appeal.
  5. Schedules and promotes store events.
  6. Schedules, trains, and manages staff.
  7. Maintains adequate inventory levels, ensures invoice accuracy, and obtains credit for
  8. damaged items.
  9. Responsible for daily balancing and monthly reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Knowledge of store operations, procedures, and functions.
  • Knowledge of accounting and other office software.
  • Management experience.
  • Courteous demeanor in dealing with public, staff, and students.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.

SKILLS: 

  • Detail oriented with excellent customer service and organization skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Public relations skills.
  • Phone etiquette skills.
