Upcoming November Conferences
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (CTSFW)—Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne (CTSFW), will host the following conferences for those who enjoy theological learning and traditional Lutheran worship:
November 6–8: Luther Hostel
Genesis: The Original vs. Revelation: The New Creation
This retreat for both laity and church workers will address the first and last books of the Bible, Genesis and Revelation, focusing on the original creation versus the new creation. Join your brothers and sisters on the CTSFW campus to gather together for study, worship, and fellowship.
Register at www.ctsfw.edu/LutherHostel. Cost for attendance is $200 and includes meals. You will also receive a 50% discount code for the Good Shepherd Institute conference that follows Luther Hostel.
November 10–12: Good Shepherd Institute
A Living Tradition and Something New
“A living tradition and something new” is how the Rev. Dr. Norman Nagel once described the richness of the Church’s hymnody. The 20th annual Good Shepherd Institute conference will recognize this living tradition through several significant milestones (the 400th anniversary of Heinrich Schütz’s Psalms of David, the 300th anniversary of Isaac Watt’s collection of psalm paraphrases, and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Jaroslav Vajda), while plenary sessions will address the present and future, with topics like hymnody and children, the LSB Companion to the Hymns, and considerations to take into account when deciding what your congregation sings.
Register at www.ctsfw.edu/GSI. Regular registration costs $130 with additional tickets $90 each, and covers lunch on Monday and Tuesday. You may also purchase a Monday-only ticket for $75 and a banquet ticket for $40. If you registered for Luther Hostel, don’t forget your 50% off discount code!
November 12: Advent Preaching Workshop
The Rev. Prof. John Pless will lead this year’s annual Advent Preaching Workshop for pastors, focusing each midweek service on the three articles of the Apostles’ Creed and Luther’s explanations in the Catechism. The workshop begins at 1:30 p.m. following Good Shepherd Institute and concludes at 8:30 p.m. Registration costs $40 and includes dinner. To register, go to www.ctsfw.edu/PreachingWorkshop.
